Originally from the Côte Bleue, a stone's throw from Marseille, Axel Chay finds his inspiration in the evocative colors of the Mediterranean. Above all, he seeks rarity and a radical aesthetic, giving each object he creates a unique sculptural dimension.

After studying at a business school in Lyon, Axel flew to London to complete his marketing course. In 2013, he returned to settle in the South of France, where he founded the design studio Nova Obiecta with his partner, Marouane Sadki. Together, they created furniture on the border between art and design. However, today, Axel Chay continues his solo journey, under his own name.

Inspired by the Mediterranean and his love for swimming, Axel Chay explores evocative colors, graphic waves and sensual curves. Her work is a true ode to women, to their solar sensuality and free spirit, which results in pieces that are both contemporary and sculptural.

In his artistic approach, Axel was inspired by emblematic figures such as Donald Judd, Julio Le Parc and Tom Wesselmann. These influences are reflected in his designs, paying homage to kinetic art and the Memphis movement. He enjoys experimenting with new materials, adding steel, aluminum, cork, wood, expanded foam and plaster to his creations, thus creating technical and unique pieces.

Axel Chay breaks with conventional contemporary design. Above all, he seeks rarity and a radical aesthetic which gives his objects a real presence in space. His projects, whether interior design, decoration, design or art, bear witness to his deep attachment to the Mediterranean.
