Jean-Baptiste Anotin’s path didn’t necessarily seem destined for the world of creation and contemporary design. Yet, following his father to auto shows and witnessing his mother’s boundless creativity nurtured his appetite for artistic expression. From upcycling old bicycles to designing a clothing line, he has always sought his own mode of expression through art and design.

The year 2020 marked a turning point. Visiting the Charlotte Perriand exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton was a revelation, illuminating the path he wanted to follow. The pause brought by the COVID-19 crisis created the perfect setting for
introspection. Surrounded by the auto parts in his family’s garage, experimenting with materials, and going through a process of trial and error led to the creation of his first piece: No Seat Belt Required.

It was then that Waiting For Ideas was born, with this first piece laying the foundation for the creative studio. Since then, Waiting For Ideas has been the site of unique pieces, collections, collaborations, and art installations showcased in numerous events in France and abroad.
