Inspired by Mid-Century Modern aesthetics, twentieth-century design, and the poetic thought of Gaston Bachelard, he creates pictorial spaces where memory, dream, and contemplation converge.
His paintings, often inhabited by iconic objects, statuettes, or botanical motifs, explore our relationship to time, oscillating between nostalgia and modernity. The melancholy that runs through them, far from darkening the image, unfolds as a gentle meditation an invitation to perceive the passing of time differently.
By moving away from the human figure, Doucet establishes a dialogue between architecture, nature, and design within silent universes, where the strength of color and the precision of form bring to life timeless spaces. Both anchored in history and resolutely contemporary, his work opens a poetic field where past and present resonate, and where each painting becomes a space for reflection and reverie.
